Inteior plan progress

Strategy 1: Water closet to provide separation of main living space to new back yard-zone. This approach is diagramed in the red pencil sketch, illustrating the different spaces being created through this strategy.

NW wall sketches

The below sketches show the initial study for the North West wall of the renovation.  This wall is the party wall to the exterior and is designed to bring in light and air, while also maintaining privacy to the neighboring house.

A large casework divides the wall into a series of shelving units that are separated between by casement windows and at the ends by larger doors.  A built in bench gathers the collection of pieces, provides for additional storage underneath, and serves as edge element for the space.   Within the interior it shelves books and objects while containing lighting above that washes against the ceiling. The shape of these casework units extend to become storage at the exterior.
